WHO WE ARE

The Education Department was created by Bishop Joe L. Ealy to bring a greater awareness to all aspects of education.  Dr. Gabriel McCurtis was selected to head this department along with a very accomplished committee.

The Education Department has also been commissioned to provide educational information through conferences, seminars and workshops that are of interest to and would enlighten the Body of Christ.

VISION AND MISSION

The Education Department was designed to assist the church in continuing to promote a greater emphasis on educational endeavors.  The main mission of the Education Department is to establish scholarship funds for the people of God in First Jurisdiction COGIC.

SCHOLARSHIPS

We want to encourage the people of God to reach for excellence in education.  Our scholarships will not be limited to the young only.  We want to encourage all of the saints to strive for life-long educational learning endeavors.

We would like to offer scholarships to high school graduates, continuing students in junior college or university, students who will be attending or are attending trade or vocational school; students who are attending or who wish at attend a theological seminary or college, and students pursuing their graduate degree.

Scholarship Applications will be provided in March 2014 to be completed by June 1, 2014.  Scholarships will be awarded in the 100^th Year Holy Convocation in June 2014.

ENDOWMENTS

The endowment fund is that which is given as a gift or a permanent fund of support.  An endowment gift is given if you want your name or your family’s name to live on.

An endowment is revenue or property permanently appropriated to any person, institution or organization.  We encourage you to establish an endowment in a loved one’s name, your family name, or in your name.  The scholarship will be placed in the name of the endowed person(s).  You will be given the opportunity to support a saint’s education to the conclusion of their educational pursuits.

SEMINARS AND WORKSHOPS

The Education Department has also been commissioned to provide educational information through conferences, seminars and workshops that are of interest to and would enlighten the Body of Christ.  We are sponsoring parenting workshops, and other informational seminars as the body of Christ needs.

CONTRIBUTIONS

You are encouraged to contribute to our scholarship fund.  All contributed funds will go towards scholarships.  The Southern California First Jurisdiction COGIC would like to establish a sizeable fund for all saints who desire to pursue their educational pursuits.
