To see that the Office of Deacon, as recorded in I Tim. 3:8-13, be restored to prominence and respectability by developing strong, committed, godly men for this great service.

Jurisdictional Deacons Mission Statement

To serve our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, by:

  • Supporting and promoting the mission of the Jurisdiction and the vision of our Jurisdictional Prelate.
  • Encouraging Deacons of the Jurisdiction to be faithful (I Cor. 4:2) and humble (I Peter 5:5-6) servants in their homes, to their Pastors and local congregations.
  • Educating and Training Deacons to become productive and responsible stewards of the local church.
  • Partnering with the Deacons’ Wives to bring about family unity and reunification in a way that is pleasing to God.

About The State Chairman

Deacon Orelious Peevy, Jr., the seventh Chairman of the State Deacons Board, was born and raised in the city of Los Angeles, CA.  He attended the Greater Mt Olive Church of God in Christ under the late Pastor, Dr. Emerson W. Lashley, until his enlistment in the United States Marine Corps in 1966.  At Greater Mt Olive, Deacon Peevy served as Sunday School Secretary, Usher and at times a choir member.

Deacon Peevy is currently a member of the Mt Sinai Church of God in Christ, (founded by the late Supt. and Administrative Assistant Elder Pleas Thomas) where Bishop Terence P. Rhone is Pastor.  At Mt Sinai, Deacon Peevy has served as Assistant Sunday School Supt., Sunday School Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, and Usher for fifteen years, Y.P.W.W. President, Trustee Board member, Church Treasurer, Controller, and is currently serving as Chairman of the Deacons Board for 24 years.

Deacon Peevy is married to Mrs. Alicesteen Peevy who is the local, Regional, Jurisdictional and International Deacons’ Wives Circle Chairperson.  Mother Peevy has worked by her husband’s side and supported him throughout his ministry. Deacon and Mother Peevy have three children, Elder Orelious Antonio Peevy, Missionary Monique Latonia Peevy, and Vernell Renae Peevy; two grandchildren, Imri Chanel Corley, and Christian Alexander Howard.

Chairman Peevy’s overall theme in life is “Humility is the Key”.  His favorite scriptures are Matt. 7:1-5; Matt. 23:1-12; Matt. 18:1-6; I Peter 5:5-7; and Phil. 4:4-8.
